Journal ArticleDOI
Differences in the subgingival microbiome according to stage of periodontitis: A comparison of two geographic regions
Gloria Inés Lafaurie,Yineth Neuta,Rafael Rios,Mauricio Pacheco-Montealegre,Roquelina Pianeta,Diana Marcela Castillo,David Herrera,Jinnethe Reyes,Lorena Diaz,Yormaris Castillo,Mariano Sanz,Margarita Iniesta +11 more
TL;DR: Although some non-cultivable microorganisms showed differential patterns between the different stages of periodontitis, they were not the same in the two countries evaluated, and further studies using larger samples with advanced next-generation techniques could provide more insight into the differences between stages ofperiodontitis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of bariatric surgery on periodontal status in an obese cohort at one year of follow‑up
Silie Arboleda,Roquelina Pianeta,Miguel Vargas,Gloria Inés Lafaurie,Fanny Aldana‑Parra,Carlos Felipe Chaux +5 more
TL;DR: The findings of the present study suggest that weight loss was associated with decreased periodontal inflammation and an improved plaque control following bariatric surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Design and validation of a quantitative polymerase chain reaction test for the identification and quantification of uncultivable bacteria associated with periodontitis.
Yormaris Castillo,Nathaly Andrea Delgadillo,Yineth Neuta,Margarita Iniesta,Mariano Sanz,David Herrera,Roquelina Pianeta,Gloria Inés Lafaurie,Diana Marcela Castillo +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR)-based test to identify and quantify the uncultivable bacteria associated with periodontitis was proposed and validated in 55 subgingival biofilm clinical samples.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential analysis of culturable and unculturable subgingival target microorganisms according to the stages of periodontitis
Gloria Inés Lafaurie,Diana Marcela Castillo,Margarita Iniesta,Mariano Sanz,Luz Amparo Gómez,Yormaris Castillo,Roquelina Pianeta,Nathaly Andrea Delgadillo,Yineth Neuta,David Díaz-Báez,David Herrera +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors found that culturable and unculturable microorganisms are strongly associated with stages III/IV periodontitis, while classic culturable micro organisms are more sensitive to differentiate between stages of periodontal disease.
