Reactive Oxygen Species as Downstream Mediators of Angiogenic Signaling by Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor-2/KDR
Renata Colavitti,Giovambattista Pani,Barbara Bedogni,Rosanna Anzevino,Silvia Borrello,Johannes Waltenberger,Tommaso Galeotti +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the involvement of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the mitogenic cascade initiated by the tyrosine kinase receptors of several growth factor peptides was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
A redox signaling mechanism for density-dependent inhibition of cell growth.
Giovanni Pani,Renata Colavitti,Barbara Bedogni,Rosanna Anzevino,Silvia Borrello,Tommaso Galeotti +5 more
TL;DR: The arrest of growth induced by cell confluence is shown to be due, at least in part, to a decrease in the steady-state levels of intracellular ROS and the consequent impairment of mitogenic redox signaling.

Deregulated Manganese Superoxide Dismutase Expression and Resistance to Oxidative Injury in p53-deficient Cells
Giovanni Pani,Barbara Bedogni,Rosanna Anzevino,Renata Colavitti,B Palazzotti,Silvia Borrello,Tommaso Galeotti +6 more
TL;DR: Transformed mouse fibroblasts lacking p53 are significantly more resistant than wild-type controls to the cytotoxic effect of a number of pro-oxidant treatments and exhibit deregulated expression of the antioxidant enzyme manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD), a protein known to protect cancer cells from the oxidative injury inflicted by antitumoral cytokines and anticancer drugs.
