Formation mechanism of tetragonal nanoprecipitates in Fe–Ga alloys that dominate the material's large magnetostriction

TL;DR: In this article, the formation mechanism of tetragonal nanoprecipitates that may dominate the large magnetostriction of Fe-Ga alloys remains unclear, but it is shown that both L60-and D022-type face-centered-tetragonal (SCT) nanoprecipient are precursors of the facecentered-cubic L12 equilibrium phase, as identified in the isothermally aged Fe73Ga27 and Fe74Ga26 alloys, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dynamic precipitation and the resultant magnetostriction enhancement in [001]-oriented Fe-Ga alloys

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the dynamic precipitation behavior in a directionally solidified Fe73Ga27 alloy with [001] orientation and found that the [001]-oriented sample produces sparser fct nanoparticles and extra interfacial omega nanoprecipitates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enhanced damping capacity of ferromagnetic Fe-Ga alloys by introducing structural defects

TL;DR: In this article, structural defects including interfacial dislocations and stacking faults were introduced by aging the BCC (body-centered-cubic) solution-treated precursor, for which the formation of mechanically harder FCT (face centered-tetragonal) and /or FCC (face-centered cubic) phases can result in high-density partial dislocation at the semi-coherent phase interfaces and quasi-periodically stacked nano-layer substructure inside the FCC variants.
