Journal ArticleDOI

Bis(2,2′-bipyridine)ruthenium(II)complexes withimidazo[4,5-f ][1,10]-phenanthroline or2-phenylimidazo[4,5-f ][1,10]phenanthroline

TL;DR: In this article, a planar bidentate ligand and two twisted bipy ligands with torsional angles between each bipyridine were used to construct the complex.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interaction of polypyridyl ruthenium(II) complexes containing non-planar ligands with DNA

TL;DR: In this article, the binding properties of the two complexes to calf thymus DNA has been investigated with spectrophotometric methods and viscosity measurements, and the experimental results indicate that the complexes bind to DNA through a partial intercalative mode that is different from the bonding mode for their parent compound, [Ru(bpy)2(PIP)]2+ (PIP=2-phenylimidazo[4,5-f]1,10-phenanthroline).
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis, characterization and luminiscent DNA-binding study of a series of ruthenium complexes containing 2-arylimidazo[f]1,10-phenanthroline

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of different electron donor and acceptor groups on the 1 H NMR, electronic absorption and emission spectra were studied, and it was shown that the addition of calf thymus DNA into the complex solution results in increases for both emissive intensities and excited state lifetimes, and indicates that the electron group on L has no significant effect on the intercalation binding mode between DNA and the complexes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ultra-sensitive detection of heavy metal ions in tap water by laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy with the assistance of electrical-deposition

TL;DR: In this paper, the trace heavy metal ions in tap water were electrically deposited on the surface of a high purity aluminium rod and then analyzed with laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS).
Journal ArticleDOI

Syntheses, characterization and third order non-linear optical properties of the ruthenium(II) complexes containing 2-phenylimidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline derivatives†

TL;DR: In this paper, the ruthenium(II) complexes [Ru(dmb)2(LH)][ClO4]2 [dmb = 4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridine; LH = 2-(4-nitrophenyl)imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline (PNOPH), 2-(3-nitro-henyl), MNOPH and ONOPH] and their deprotonated complexes have been synthesized and
