We conducted a comprehensive study of Linux file system evolution
by analyzing eight years of changes across 5,079 patches,
deriving numerous new (and sometimes surprising) insights into
the file-system development process. Our observations should be useful to
file-system developers, systems researchers, and tool builders. Careful study
of these results should bring about a new generation of more robust, reliable,
and performant file systems.

A Survey of Performance Comparison between Virtual Machines and Containers

An offloading framework is used to offload source code among server and it’s clients. Source code mainly distributed to I/O node and data node. The offloading mechanism assigns I/O bound and data bound modules to respective I/O node and data node. Data transmission decreased by offloading framework by partition I/O bound and data intensive applications. This system deals with data sharing over a client server application and offloading of executable code[2]. This approach improves performance of the communication between two systems and this performance is evaluated by implementing offloading framework on client server application. By executing five real time applications on heterogeneous and homogeneous environment, we get results which show that offloading framework increases overall system performance by factor upto 90.1% with 75.5% average. Also this testing shows that an offloading framework reduces network load introduced by client server application by factor between 35 and 68.

Query Bound Application Offloading: Approach Towards Increase Performance of Big Data Computing

The network storage systems are generally composed of clients, storage servers and metadata servers. In this paper, we proposed a novel storage virtualization (NSV) scheme which is capable of alleviating the heavy load of metadata server, guaranteeing the storage quality of service and dynamically adapting storage resources. The metadata server automatically constructs a dedicated storage cluster according to various requirements of storage quality of service. The storage cluster may consist of one to many storage servers which includes one master storage server and zero to many slave storage servers. In other words, a network storage system consists of at least one storage cluster. The requests of each client are forwarded to corresponding master storage server within a specific storage cluster. In addition, the master storage server determines the best storage server which handles the requests based on the conditions of storage servers. Next, the requests will be redirected to the selected storage server. Finally, the responses are directly transmitted to the client.

Abstract: “Designing an Image Encryption user Interface using Python and Octave” Data Security has become the paramount in most industries right this moment, especially true in the finance and banking industry. What we have created here is a user interface that lets you add a blur to your image and protect it with a password. We are also using steganography to add to hide a recognition key in the image. The password for the image (taken in as input from the user) and the hidden key into image are then updated in SQL data base. The interface also lets you decrypt any image that was earlier encrypted using program, this is done by initially finding the hidden code in encrypted image then checking it with the keys in the data base if matched the user is asked for a password, the password then entered by the user is checked with password saved for the given key if the image is decrypted. A graphic interface is then created using the tkinter python library for the front end and our encryption code being at the backend. Now let’s understand how the encryption is takes place, basically we are using the octave library in python3 to add Gaussian blur to the image. Mathematically the adding Gaussian blur the image is the same as convolving the image with a Gaussian Function. The Gaussian blur is a form of photo-blurring filter that uses a Gaussian feature (which additionally expresses the normal distribution in facts) for calculating the transformation to apply to every pixel within the image
