Finding optimal least-significant-bit substitution in image hiding by dynamic programming strategy

Protection of digital multimedia content has become an increasingly important issue for content owners and service providers. As watermarking is identified as a major technology to achieve copyright protection, the relevant literature includes several distinct approaches for embedding data into a multimedia element (primarily images, audio, and video). Because of its growing popularity, the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) is commonly used in recent watermarking schemes. In a DWT-based scheme, the DWT coefficients are modified with the data that represents the watermark. In this paper, we present a hybrid scheme based on DWT and Singular Value Decomposition (SVD). After decomposing the cover image into four bands, we apply the SVD to each band, and embed the same watermark data by modifying the singular values. Modification in all frequencies allows the development of a watermarking scheme that is robust to a wide range of attacks.

Robust DWT-SVD domain image watermarking: embedding data in all frequencies

The proliferation of digitized media due to the rapid growth of networked multimedia systems, has created an urgent need for copyright enforcement technologies that can protect copyright ownership of multimedia objects. Digital image watermarking is one such technology that has been developed to protect digital images from illegal manipulations. In particular, digital image watermarking algorithms which are based on the discrete wavelet transform have been widely recognized to be more prevalent than others. This is due to the wavelets' excellent spatial localization, frequency spread, and multi-resolution characteristics, which are similar to the theoretical models of the human visual system. In this paper, we describe an imperceptible and a robust combined DWT-DCT digital image watermarking algorithm. The algorithm watermarks a given digital image using a combination of the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT). Performance evaluation results show that combining the two transforms improved the performance of the watermarking algorithms that are based solely on the DWT transform.

Combined DWT-DCT Digital Image Watermarking

Copyright protection and proof of ownership are two of the main important applications of the digital image watermarking. The challenges faced by researchers interested in digital image watermarking applications lie in the creation of new algorithms to serve those applications and to be resistant to most types of attacks, especially the geometrical attacks. Robustness, high imperceptibility, security, and large capacity are four essential requirements in any watermarking scheme. This paper presents a new image watermarking scheme based on the Redundant Discrete Wavelet Transform (RDWT) and the Singular Value Decomposition (SVD). The gray scale image watermark was embedded directly in the singular values of the RDWT sub-bands of the host image. The scheme achieved a large capacity due to the redundancy in the RDWT domain and at the same time preserved high imperceptibility due to SVD properties. Embedding the watermarking pixel's values without any modification inside the wavelet coefficient of the host image overcomes the security issue. Furthermore, the experimental results of the proposed scheme showed a high level of robustness not only against the image processing attacks but also against the geometrical attacks which are considered as difficult attacks to resist.

Improving the robustness of DCT-based image watermarking against JPEG compression

A novel technique for embedding watermarks into a host image in the frequency domain is proposed. Unlike the traditional techniques, the method addresses that the watermark is embedded at low frequency. The weighted correction is also used to improve the imperceptibility of the watermark. Moreover the watermark is self-extractable and the algorithm is simple. Experimental results demonstrate that the watermark is robust to various attacks.

A robust DCT-based watermarking for copyright protection

Among the features of content-bused retrieval, color features provide important clues to search similar image contents. In this paper, we propose a new method, color plane moment (CPM), which combines color content and its spatial distribution to improve image query results. The method integrates the ideas of a color histogram, back projection, and moments. Simulation results demonstrate the performance of the proposed technique.
