Journal ArticleDOI

Hydrogeochemical processes and influence of seawater intrusion in coastal aquifers south of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

TL;DR: Heavy stable isotopes were found to be dominant in the coastal region due to seawater intrusion, and around 45% of the groundwater of this study area is of Na+-Cl− type due to salinisation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Isotopic signatures, hydrochemical and multivariate statistical analysis of seawater intrusion in the coastal aquifers of Chennai and Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu, India

TL;DR: In this article , stable isotopic analyses of 18O were performed on 24 groundwater samples collected from various locations throughout the research region based on EC, TDS, Na, and Cl- concentrations for both seasons.

Distribution of Ostracoda in marine and marginal marine habitats off Tamil Nadu and adjoining areas, southern east coast of India and Andaman Islands: Environmental implications

TL;DR: In this article, the distribution and ecology of marine ostracoda in relation to the environmental parameters such as temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen of the bottom waters, organic matter, and CaCO3, along with the sand-silt-clay ratio of sediments from the inner shelf sediment region off Karikkattukuppam (near Chennai), off Rameswaram, off Tuticorn and Andaman Islands is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Investigation of background radiation level in Krusadai Island Mangrove, Gulf of Mannar, India

TL;DR: In this article, natural radioactive concentration analysis was carried out in the sand sediments that were collected from the shallow inner shelf region of an ecologically sensitive mangrove forest area at Krusadai Island in Gulf of Mannar near Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, India.
Journal ArticleDOI

Temporal variation of physico-chemical parameters and ostracoda population, off Rameswaram, Gulf of Mannar, southeast coast of Tamil Nadu, India

TL;DR: In this article, seasonal observation on physico-chemical parameters were correlated with population of ostracoda in southern region off Rameswaram, Gulf of Mannar, Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu, southeast coast of India.
