The state of the industry.

The objective of this paper is to examine the attitudes of administrative leaders and administrative employees concerning the training courses provided, as well as the impact of training on employee job performance at Yarmouk University in Jordan. The study is carried at a Malaysian small and medium enterprise (SME). Findings indicated that training courses are related to the training needs of the employees to a medium degree, and that there are several conditions which determine selecting eligible employees for training. Results indicated also that there is relationship between effective training and employees’ job performance. Based on the results of the study, several recommendations were provided. Training and Its Impact on the Performance of Employees at Jordanian Universities from the Perspective of Employees: The Case of Yarmouk University.

Institutions of higher learning in the modern and highly competitive academic environment compete to drive work engagement and explore possible means by which employees can develop and exhibit right attitudes and disposition to work. The main objective of this study was to examine the effect of work engagement strategies on employees’ behavioural outcomes. Few studies analysed how work engagement strategies could help in driving standard work behaviour particularly in higher institutions. In an attempt to bridge this gap, this study was carried out using descriptive research method and Structural Equation Model (AMOS 22) for the analysis of four hundred and forty-one (441) valid questionnaire which were completed by the faculty members of the six selected private universities in Nigeria using stratified and simple random sampling techniques. Factor model which shows high-reliability and good fit was generated, while construct validity was provided through convergent and discriminant analyses. The findings indicate that career opportunities, recognition of efforts, institution’s reputation, investment in employees and fun at work have positive influence on job satisfaction, job involvement and employees’ loyalty. This study contributes to the scientific knowledge in the area of Strategic Human Resources Management and the insight discovered from the study would help the management of institutions of higher learning to improve their employees’ level of engagement as well as their behavioural outcomes.

Measuring work engagement strategies and employees’ behavioural outcomes in Nigerian Universities

Employee performance is considered as the main and most important HR practice in every organization as it is the key through which organizations achieve their ultimate goals and they can only achieve productivity and efficiency through higher performance of employees. The thesis focuses to study the direct effects of teamwork, employee empowerment and training on employee performance in telecom sector Islamabad, Pakistan. Based on previous research studies, it is clear that only few researches were carried out on employee performance and its relationship with teamwork, employee empowerment and training, especially in telecom sector. Hence, 150 questionnaires were distributed among employees of three cellular companies such as Ufone, Telenor and Mobilink Islamabad, Pakistan to collect data for the study. To analyse the collected data, multiple linear regression was used on SPSS. The results of the findings showed that teamwork has significant positive effect on employee performance. The study also disclosed that employee empowerment has significant positive effect on employee performance. At last, the study concluded that training has significant positive effect on employee performance. Therefore, it is recommended for every organization to implement such practices in their organizations to improve the overall productivity of the organization and gain competitive advantage.

Effect of Teamwork, Employee Empowerment and Training on Employee Performance

Training and development is indispensable strategic tool for enhancing employee performance and organizations keep increasing training budget on yearly basis with believe that it will earn them competitive edge. The main objective of this study is to examine the effectiveness of training and development on employees' performance and organisation competitive advantage in the Nigerian banking industry. Descriptive research method was adopted for this study using two hundred and twenty three valid questionnaires which were completed by selected banks in Lagos State, South-West Nigeria using simple random sampling technique. The data collected were carefully analyzed using descriptive statistics to represent the raw data in a meaningful manner. The results show that strong relationship exists between training and development, employees' performance and competitive advantage. Summary of the findings indicates that there is strong relationship between the tested dependent variable and independent construct. However, bank management should not relent in their quest to train their staff to develop new ideas that will keep improving and retaining employee performance.
