A Fuzzy Expert System for Prioritizing Rehabilitation of Sewer Networks

TL;DR: The results show how the fuzzy inference system may be used to establish rehabilitation priorities for each pipe section and provide more realistic results than the intuitive approaches that use structural and hydraulic performance maximum and mean.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydraulic Performance Index of a Sewer Network

TL;DR: In this article, an objective methodology is proposed for evaluating the hydraulic performance for possible rehabilitation of sewer systems, which involves assigning a hydraulic performance index to each pipe section and taking into account the vulnerability and the retention capacity of each pipe sections.
Journal ArticleDOI

Improving single-variable and multivariable techniques for estimating missing hydrological data

TL;DR: In this paper, a highly efficient technique is developed to obtain the best least-squares approximation of the missing hydrological data in the single-variable case, which is based on an appropriate weighing of the estimated values generated by two autoregressive processes operating in the forward and backward directions of time.
Journal ArticleDOI

New runoff simulation model for small urban catchments

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented a new runoff simulation model based on the improvement of the rational hydrograph method, which explicitly considers the contribution of pervious and impervious areas, the time variability of rainfall, the initial abstraction on impervious area, and the infiltration on pervious areas.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optimization Model for BMP Selection and Placement in a Combined Sewer

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed an optimization model for the selection and placement of best management practice (BMP) at the watershed level in order to control water quantity and quality, with the objective function being to minimize the total cost of BMPs within the constraints of guaranteeing a free-surface flow for the whole network during heavy rainfall and limiting the peak flow generated at the outlet of the watershed at the interceptor capacity for frequent rainfalls.
