Increased expression of monocyte chemotactic protein-1 during active hepatic fibrogenesis: correlation with monocyte infiltration.

TL;DR: Comparison of serial sections of liver biopsies from patients with various degrees of necro-inflammatory activity showed that infiltration of the portal tracts with monocytes/macrophages is directly correlated with the expression of MCP-1.
Journal ArticleDOI

Monocyte chemotactic protein‐1 as a chemoattractant for human hepatic stellate cells

TL;DR: A potential direct profibrogenic action of MCP‐1 is shown via HSC chemotaxis for the first time, and this study shows that the increase in cell migration was almost completely a result ofChemotaxis rather than chemokinesis.
Journal Article

Expression of monocyte chemotactic protein-1 precedes monocyte recruitment in a rat model of acute liver injury, and is modulated by vitamin E.

TL;DR: The existence of a direct relationship between MCP-1 expression and monocyte infiltration after acute liver injury is suggested, and that preventing the generation of oxidative stress-related molecules results in decreased expression and release of this chemokine is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI

Agonist-specific regulation of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 expression by cyclooxygenase metabolites in hepatic stellate cells☆

TL;DR: The findings indicate that cross‐talk between cytokines and a prostaglandin‐cAMP pathway differentially regulates the proinflammatory potential of HSC, contributing to the modulation of liver tissue inflammation.
