Open Online Courses for Strengthening Laboratory-Based Detection of Antimicrobial Resistance in Pakistan
N. Saeed,Mohammad Zeeshan,Joveria Farooqi,Sadia Shakoor,Kauser Jabeen,Faisal Malik,Jason Rao,Rumina Hasan +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors used open access online courses to improve the knowledge of laboratory staff involved in the detection and reporting of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in low and middle-income countries.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of time duration of digestion/decontamination technique on yield of mycobacteria and contamination rates from sterile body fluids (pleural and ascitic fluid) and pus specimens
Samreen Shafiq,Faryal Saleem,Kauser Jabeen,Joveria Farooqi,Warda Alam,Sadia Hanif,Shazia Ali,Sadia Shakoor,Rumina Hasan +8 more
TL;DR: In areas where specimen delay is common and sterility of collection procedure cannot be ensured, digestion/decontamination with NaOH-NALC for up to 20min can reduce contamination rates without considerably compromising mycobacterial culture yield, but one should be alert to the possibility of decreased viability.
Journal ArticleDOI
Correction to: Nasopharyngeal carriage of Streptococcus pneumoniae in children under 5 years of age before introduction of pneumococcal vaccine (PCV10) in urban and rural districts in Pakistan

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present trends in Group A Streptococcus (GAS) blood cultures over a 10-year period in Pakistan and characteristics of hospitalized patients with GAS sepsis over three years at a tertiary care hospital in Karachi, Pakistan.
Book ChapterDOI
Susceptibility Testing of Nontuberculous Mycobacteria
TL;DR: This chapter provides a summary of available AST guidelines for NTM and explores clinical outcome data with the available AST breakpoints and additional information is required on correlation of susceptibility breakpoints with the clinical outcomes.
