Journal ArticleDOI
Farm and cow factors and their interactions on the incidence of retained placenta in holstein dairy cows.
Abolfazl Mahnani,A. Sadeghi-Sefidmazgi,Saeid Ansari-Mahyari,Gholam Reza Ghorbani,Hamideh Keshavarzi +4 more
TL;DR: Identification of risk factors for RP with an interaction analysis can help farm managers to employ the best strategies to reduce the occurrence of this reproductive disorder in Iranian dairy herds.
Journal ArticleDOI
Investigating the genetic architecture of conception and non-return rates in Holstein cattle under heat stress conditions
TL;DR: Findings indicate that a combined selection using heat tolerance can be considered for genetic evaluation of reproduction traits under heat stress conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of a polymorphism in the 3' untranslated region of the OLR1 gene with milk fat and protein in dairy cows
TL;DR: The association of a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in the 3' untranslated region of the OLR1 gene (OLR1g) with milk-related traits in 408 Iranian Holstein cows was explored.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessing the consequences and economic impact of retained placenta in Holstein dairy cattle.
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of retained placenta (RP) on production and reproduction attributes as well as economic losses in Iranian Holstein cows was assessed. But, the authors did not consider the economic losses associated with the RP and the average incidence of RP per cow over a year was 12.3%.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of polymorphisms in the ABCG2, LEPR and SCD1 genes on milk production traits in Holstein cows
M Soltani-Ghombavani,Saeid Ansari-Mahyari,M. Rostami,S Ghanbari-Baghenoei,Mohammad Ali Edriss +4 more
TL;DR: The results of this study suggest that these SNPs have the potential to be used in programmes based on genomic selection in Iranian dairy herds.
