Journal ArticleDOI
Oncological Benefits of Neoadjuvant Chemoradiation With Gemcitabine Versus Upfront Surgery in Patients With Borderline Resectable Pancreatic Cancer: A Prospective, Randomized, Open-label, Multicenter Phase 2/3 Trial.
Jin-Young Jang,Youngmin Han,Hongeun Lee,Sun Whe Kim,Wooil Kwon,Kyung Hun Lee,Do Youn Oh,Eui Kyu Chie,Jeong Min Lee,Jin Seok Heo,Joon Oh Park,Do Hoon Lim,Seong Hyun Kim,Sang-Jae Park,Woo Jin Lee,Young Hwan Koh,Joon Seong Park,Dong Sup Yoon,Ik Jae Lee,Seong Ho Choi +19 more
TL;DR: Compared to upfront surgery, neoadjuvant chemoradiation provides oncological benefits in patients with BRPC, and this is the first prospective randomized controlled trial on the oncology benefits of neoadedjuvant treatment in BRPC.
Journal ArticleDOI
A prospective randomized controlled study comparing outcomes of standard resection and extended resection, including dissection of the nerve plexus and various lymph nodes, in patients with pancreatic head cancer.
Jin-Young Jang,Mee Joo Kang,Jin Seok Heo,Seong-Ho Choi,Dong Wook Choi,Sang-Jae Park,Sung-Sik Han,Dong Sup Yoon,Hee Chul Yu,Koo Jeong Kang,Sang Geol Kim,Sun-Whe Kim +11 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that standard resection can be performed safely and efficiently, without negatively affecting oncologic efficacy or long-term survival, when compared with extended pancreaticoduodenal resection.
Journal ArticleDOI
The influence of hospital volume and surgical treatment delay on long-term survival after cancer surgery
Young Ho Yun,Young-Ae Kim,Young-Ae Kim,Y. H. Min,Sang Min Park,Yong Jin Won,Dae Young Kim,Il Ju Choi,Young-Woo Kim,Sang-Jae Park,Jun-Je Kim,Dae Ho Lee,Seok Jun Yoon,Seung-Yong Jeong,Dong-Young Noh,Dae Seog Heo +15 more
TL;DR: The findings suggest that the effect of hospital volume and surgical treatment delay on overall survival of cancer patients should be considered in formulating or revising national health policy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dose-volumetric parameters predicting radiation-induced hepatic toxicity in unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma patients treated with three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy.
Tae Hyun Kim,Dae Yong Kim,Joong-Won Park,Seong Hoon Kim,Joon-Il Choi,Hyun Beom Kim,Woo Jin Lee,Sang-Jae Park,Eun Kyung Hong,Chang-Min Kim +9 more
TL;DR: The total liver volume receiving > or =30 Gy appears to be a useful dose-volumetric parameter for predicting the risk of RIHT, and this volume should be limited to < or =60% whenever possible to minimize therisk of Grade 2 or worse RIHT.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinicopathologic analysis of early ampullary cancers with a focus on the feasibility of ampullectomy.
Yoo-Seok Yoon,Sun Whe Kim,Sang-Jae Park,Hye Seung Lee,Jin-Young Jang,Min Gew Choi,Woo Ho Kim,Kuhn Uk Lee,Yong Hyun Park +8 more
TL;DR: Ampullectomy for early ampullary cancer should not be considered an alternative operation to PD because of the high possibility of recurrence, and PD should be reserved for those who have pTis or pT1 cancer sized 1.0 cm or less with high operative risk.
