Journal ArticleDOI
Open versus laparoscopic surgery for mid-rectal or low-rectal cancer after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (COREAN trial): survival outcomes of an open-label, non-inferiority, randomised controlled trial.
Seung-Yong Jeong,Seung-Yong Jeong,Ji Won Park,Ji Won Park,Byung-Ho Nam,Sohee Kim,Sung Bum Kang,Seok Byung Lim,Hyo Seong Choi,Duck Woo Kim,Hee Jin Chang,Dae Yong Kim,Kyung Hae Jung,Tae You Kim,Gyeong Hoon Kang,Eui Kyu Chie,Sun-Young Kim,Dae Kyung Sohn,Dae-Hyun Kim,Jae Sung Kim,Hye Seung Lee,Jee Hyun Kim,Jae Hwan Oh +22 more
TL;DR: The results show that laparoscopic resection for locally advanced rectal cancer after preoperative chemoradiotherapy provides similar outcomes for disease-free survival as open resection, thus justifying its use.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oncological Benefits of Neoadjuvant Chemoradiation With Gemcitabine Versus Upfront Surgery in Patients With Borderline Resectable Pancreatic Cancer: A Prospective, Randomized, Open-label, Multicenter Phase 2/3 Trial.
Jin-Young Jang,Youngmin Han,Hongeun Lee,Sun Whe Kim,Wooil Kwon,Kyung Hun Lee,Do Youn Oh,Eui Kyu Chie,Jeong Min Lee,Jin Seok Heo,Joon Oh Park,Do Hoon Lim,Seong Hyun Kim,Sang-Jae Park,Woo Jin Lee,Young Hwan Koh,Joon Seong Park,Dong Sup Yoon,Ik Jae Lee,Seong Ho Choi +19 more
TL;DR: Compared to upfront surgery, neoadjuvant chemoradiation provides oncological benefits in patients with BRPC, and this is the first prospective randomized controlled trial on the oncology benefits of neoadedjuvant treatment in BRPC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pathologic complete response of primary tumor following preoperative chemoradiotherapy for locally advanced rectal cancer: long-term outcomes and prognostic significance of pathologic nodal status (KROG 09-01).
Seung Gu Yeo,Dae Yong Kim,Tae Hyun Kim,Hee Jin Chang,Jae Hwan Oh,Won Park,Doo Ho Choi,Heerim Nam,Jun Sang Kim,Moon June Cho,Jong Hoon Kim,Jin-Hong Park,Min Kyu Kang,Woong Sub Koom,Jae Sung Kim,Taek Keun Nam,Eui Kyu Chie,Jung Soo Kim,Kyung Ja Lee +18 more
TL;DR: LARC patients achieving ypT0N0 after preoperative CRT had favorable long-term outcomes, whereas positive ypN status had a poor prognosis even after total regression of primary tumor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic impact of clinicopathologic parameters in stage II/III breast cancer treated with neoadjuvant docetaxel and doxorubicin chemotherapy: paradoxical features of the triple negative breast cancer.
Bhumsuk Keam,Seock-Ah Im,Hee Jun Kim,Do-Youn Oh,Jee Hyun Kim,Se-Hoon Lee,Eui Kyu Chie,Wonshik Han,Dong Wan Kim,Woo Kyung Moon,Tae-You Kim,In Ae Park,Dong-Young Noh,Dae Seog Heo,Sung Whan Ha,Yung-Jue Bang +15 more
TL;DR: Several molecular markers provided useful predictive and prognostic information in stage II and III breast cancer patients treated with neoadjuvant docetaxel/doxorubicin chemotherapy, with triple negative phenotype associated with shorter survival, even though it was associated with a higher response rate to neoad juvant chemotherapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
DNMT (DNA methyltransferase) inhibitors radiosensitize human cancer cells by suppressing DNA repair activity
TL;DR: Psammaplin A, 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine, and zebularine induce radiosensitivity in both A549 and U373MG cell lines, and suggest that this effect might be associated with the inhibition of DNA repair.
