The smart healthcare system is an electronic patient records (EPR) sharing system, which significantly helps sharing of EPR data and provides appropriate medical assistance for the patients and a more suitable platform for the potential researchers. However, the security of EPR data is still a major issue in such systems. In this paper, we develop a compression-then-encryption-based dual watermarking to protect the EPR data for the healthcare system, which produces several significant features. Experiments conducted on a large set of medical data indicate the capability of our proposed method for smart healthcare. Finally, when compared with the existing technique, the proposed work offers better performance in terms of robustness and security.

The development of the quaternion wavelet transform

Digital watermarking has become an essential and important tool for copyright protection, authentication, and security of multimedia contents. It is the process of embedding a watermark in the multimedia content and its extraction. Block-based discrete cosine transform (DCT) is a widely used method in digital watermarking. This paper proposes a novel blind image watermarking scheme developed in the spatial domain by quantization of invariant direct current (DC) coefficients. The cover image is redistributed and divided into non-overlapped square blocks and then the DC coefficients invariant to rotation, row and column flip operations, without utilization of the DCT transform, are directly calculated in the spatial domain. Utilizing the quantization parameter and watermark information, the modified DC coefficients and the difference between DC and modified DC coefficients are calculated to directly modify the pixel values to embed watermark bits in the spatial domain instead of the DCT domain. Optimal values of the quantization parameter, which plays a significant role in controlling the tradeoff between robustness and invisibility, are calculated through differential evolution (DE), the optimization algorithm. Experimental results, compared with the latest similar schemes, demonstrate the advantages of the proposed scheme.

An Optimized Digital Watermarking Scheme Based on Invariant DC Coefficients in Spatial Domain

To provide the security to image contents, most encryption techniques are designed for synthetic and real images which is, however, not applicable to stereo images. Stereo images generally consists of two views (left and right views) of a scene with known viewpoints. The only way is to encrypt both left and right images separately. To address this issue, this chapter introduces a new and effective encryption technique to encrypt left and right stereo images simultaneously to produce a single encrypted image. A decryption process is finally introduced to generate left and right stereo images from the final encrypted image. The extensive experiments on different stereo images demonstrate the efficiency and the robustness of the proposed encryption technique.

SIE: An Application to Secure Stereo Images Using Encryption.

The most important application of the thermo vision system is the detection and tracking of moving objects in infrared images. In this paper, we have designed an approach for estimating the optical flow in thermal image sequences. This optical flow estimation approach is based on local as well as a global method which takes the advantages of both the brightness constancy assumption and spatiotemporal smoothness constraints. A new nonlinear cost function is designed with these constraints. This nonlinear cost function is minimized by the modified steepest descent method. The estimated optical flow fields demonstrate a high level of random motions caused by thermal noise. The experimental results show the robustness of the proposed method.

A variational approach for optical flow estimation in infra-red or thermal images

This paper proposes a novel phase based approach for computing disparity as the optical flow from the given pair of consecutive images. A new dual tree fractional quaternion wavelet transform (FrQWT) is proposed by defining the 2D Fourier spectrum upto a single quadrant. In the proposed FrQWT, each quaternion wavelet consists of a real part (a real DWT wavelet) and three imaginary parts that are organized according to the quaternion algebra. First two FrQWT phases encode the shifts of image features in the absolute horizontal and vertical coordinate system, while the third phase has the texture information. The FrQWT allowed a multi-scale framework for calculating and adjusting local disparities and executing phase unwrapping from coarse to fine scales with linear computational efficiency.
