India is a leader when it comes to agriculture. A significant part of the country’s population depends on agriculture for livelihood. However, many of them face challenges due to using unreliable farming techniques. Sometimes the challenges increase to the extent that they commit suicide. Besides, India is highly populated, and its population is steadily increasing, requiring its government to grow its GDP and increase its energy supply proportionately. This paper reviews integrating solar farming with agriculture, known as Agrivoltaics, as a Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) option for Indian farmers. This study is further supported by the Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis of agrivoltaics. Using the SWOT analysis, this article presents how agrivoltaics can make agriculture sustainable and reliable. This paper identifies rural electrification, water conservation, yield improvement, sustainable income generation, and reduction in the usage of pesticides as the strengths of agrivoltaics. Similarly, the paper presents weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to agrivoltaics in India. The research concludes with the findings that agrivoltaics have the potential of meeting multiple objectives such as meeting global commitments, offering employment, providing economic stability, increasing clean energy production capacity, conserving natural resources, and succeeding in several others. The paper also includes a discussion about the findings, suggestions, and implications of adopting agrivoltaics on a large scale in India.

Agrivoltaics: A Climate-Smart Agriculture Approach for Indian Farmers

This paper is based on designing a modifi ed rotor for a drivetrain in a Type-III wind turbine system for maximum power generation to work eff ectively under low and high wind speed and its variation. In this paper three drive trains are designed for the gearbox to provide regulated torque and thrust force. For time to time variation in wind speed the voltage sag and during over speed condition voltage swell problem can be solved by using this modifi ed design. The pitch control, gear box and yaw of the wind turbine basically focused for modifi cation. Mainly the gear box for the rotor causes sluggish motion of the rotor during low wind speed. This paper explained the design of modifi ed rotor control for the gear box in DFIG based (Type-III) wind turbine. Also in this paper how the modifi ed rotor system can be helpful for reactive power control highlighted with comparison with existing models. For designing MATLAB Simulink platform is taken and validated using CFD mechanical design analysis. Using these types of modifi ed drive trains maximum power for the wind turbines is enhanced by 40–60% of its reference value.

Implementation and Analysis of Mathematical Modeled Drive Train System in Type III Wind Turbines Using Computational Fluid Dynamics

It is clear that fossil fuels provide a significant part of the global energy (84% in 2019) demand. Although the fossil fuels are easily available source of energy but they are not evenly distributed worldwide, finite resource and global environment has been significantly affected by it. Therefore, it is a major challenge for the whole planet to identify the types of potential energy sources to produce the required some of energy. Renewable energies are among the most potential sources to match the rapidly increasing global power demand. Hybrid system consisting solar and wind gives feasible solution for standalone application, as both are complimentary in nature and incorporation of the battery energy storage system increases the reliability and quality of overall system. The battery is used to store the surplus power and give back to the system when generated power is less then load requirement. This research work presents the control strategies for power quality improvement in standalone hybrid system during transient and validated through MATLAB/SIMULINK software.

Energy plays an important role in the monetary and social expansion of any country. However, there used to be a general deficiency of rural energy development policies that focuses on agriculture. Agriculture has a dual role, i.e. it acts as an energy user in crops as well as an energy supplier in solar electricity generation. Rajasthan, the largest state of India, is blessed with the highest solar insolation. However, solar energy has not been fulfilled yet, predominantly in the field of the agricultural sector, where irrigation is still being done by outdated conventional methods. This paper focuses on the development of strategies to enhance solar energy use in the agriculture sector of Rajasthan state India. An intensive survey was being conducted among scientists, academicians, farmers, and government officials regarding the know-how of present policies and schemes for the different applications of solar energy in Rajasthan state India. The survey reveals that not only the farmers and rural persons but the intellectual world is also unaware of the different policies of solar program prevailing in the state. Based on the survey, various strategies have been suggested to accelerate the solar program among the rural and agriculture sectors of Rajasthan state India.
