First wall and limiter lifetime in pulsed tokamak reactors

TL;DR: In this paper, the structural integrity of certain reactor subsystems under cyclic operation is investigated to answer the question: how long a burn pulse is needed to achieve the benefits of steady-state operation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Transient thermal and dynamic stresses in strongback-design blankets

TL;DR: In this paper, transient dynamic stresses due to plasma disruptions are computed on a parametric basis for strongback-design blankets that contain stainless steel, ferritic steel, or vanadium alloy as structural material.
Journal ArticleDOI

Manufacturing Stress Corrosion-Cracking Tube Specimens for Eddy Current Technique Evaluation

TL;DR: In this article, a crack manufacturing method that can be conducted at room temperature and atmospheric pressure conditions is proposed, which can be applied to manufacture different types of stress corrosion cracking (SCC) specimens: axial outer-diameter (OD) SCC for straight tubes, circumferential ODSCC and primary water SCC (PWSCC) at hydraulic expansion transition regions, and axial PWSCC at the apex and tangential regions of U-bend tubes.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Coalescence Criterion of Part-Through Wall Cracks in Steam Generator Tubes of Nuclear Power Plants

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors extended the coalescence criterion to axial collinear and offset cracks and found that the radial ligament failure is caused by local instability of the radial and axial ligaments.
