ICT-finance-growth nexus: Empirical evidence from the Next-11 countries

This paper examines causal relationships between telecommunications infrastructure and usage (TEL), foreign direct investment (FDI), and economic growth in the Asian-21 countries for the period 1965–2012. TEL is defined in terms of the prevalence of telephone main lines, mobile phones, internet servers and users, as well as the extent of fixed broadband. These measures are considered both individually and collectively in the form of a composite index of TEL. We report results on long-run relationships between TEL, FDI, and economic growth. We also use a panel vector auto-regression model to reveal the nature of Granger causality among the three variables. Results from these causal relationships provide important policy implications to the Asian-21 countries.

Is ICT an enduring driver of economic growth? Evidence from South Asian economies

The aim of this paper is to survey the relationship among natural resource, income inequality and openness in Iran by using the Auto Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model in the period 1980-2009. The stationary test reveals that our variables are both I(0) and I(1), so for that reason, we used the ARDL approach to estimate long run and the short run relations between the variables. The results show that, in the long-run and the short-run, the GDP per capita, Land, Openness and literacy rate have a negative effect on income equality; the total natural resource rents has a positive effect on income equality. The oil revenue has a negative effect on income inequality in the short run, and it has a positive effect on income equality in the long run.

Natural Resources, Openness and Income Inequality in Iran

The aim of this paper is the survey of mobile price determinants by hedonic model. We have applied the hedonic price model for mobile phone market in Iran in the year of 2008. The brands conclude NOKIA, QTEK, HTC, MOTOROLA, SONY ERICSSON and SAMSUNG that comprise 193 types of handset mobile phone. The results show that in the hedonic function, the maximum amount of parameters of hedonic price function related to the following variables respectively: touch screen, hands free and connectivity tools, and the minimum amount of them are belonged to clarification of monitor images, phone volume and phone memory. Moreover, except Motorola brand the type of brand has not a significant parameter in the hedonic price function. Hedonic Price Function Estimation for Mobile Phone in Iran

This paper searches an appropriate proxy for opportunity cost of holding money. We apply a balance panel data for selected developed and developing countries during the period of 1990-2008. Three models have been estimated for each group of the countries. Both random and fixed effect models have been applied. The results show that inflation rate is a good proxy for opportunity cost of holding money in the developing countries. This fact is probably the caused of inefficiency in financial markets. However, for developed countries both inflation rate and interest rate should apply as opportunity cost of holding money. When interest rate is a good proxy for opportunity cost of holding money and bonds, we can conclude that there is a competitive market in the financial market. On the other hand, we can consider the inflation rate as a proxy for durable goods and foreign currency.
