Nanoscale surface modification of AISI 316L stainless steel by severe shot peening

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of severe shot peening on microstructural and mechanical properties of 316L stainless steel, which is widely used in biomedical, food preparation, structural and marine applications, was evaluated in terms of morphological and structural features, defect density, grain size, phase transformation, surface topography, surface wettability, residual stresses and microhardness.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fatigue behaviour of PBF additive manufactured TI6AL4V alloy after shot and laser peening

TL;DR: In this article, selected surface treatments were considered to improve the fatigue strength of AM parts, including shot and laser peening as well as a combination of shot peening plus chemical assisted surface enhancement (CASE®).
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of surface treatment on the fatigue strength of additive manufactured Ti6Al4V alloy

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of surface roughness on the fatigue strength of additive manufacturing (AM) specimens was investigated using five different surface treatments: no treatment after annealing and sand blasting, shot peening, chemical assisted surface enhancement (CASE), laser shock peening and HIP.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of nitrogen vacancies on phase stability and mechanical properties of arc deposited (Ti0.52Al0.48)Ny (yl1) coatings

TL;DR: In this article, Nitrogen sub-stoichiometric (Ti0.52Al0.48)Ny (0.92 ≥ y ǫ ≥ 0.46) coatings were grown in a mixed Ar/N2 atmosphere by cathodic arc deposition on cemented carbide (WC/Co-based) substrates.
