Preparation and characterization of nano-sized Pt–Pd/C catalysts and comparison of their electro-activity toward methanol and ethanol oxidation

TL;DR: In this paper, nano-sized Pt-Pd alloys have been prepared by polyol process on Vulcan XC72 and the information on structural characteristics and surface chemistry of the nano-material was obtained using TEM, XRD and XPS.
Journal ArticleDOI

Carbon supported nano-sized Pt–Pd and Pt–Co electrocatalysts for proton exchange membrane fuel cells

TL;DR: In this article, nano-sized Pt-Pd/C and Pt-Co/C electrocatalysts have been synthesized and characterized by an alcohol-reduction process using ethylene glycol as the solvent and Vulcan XC72R as the supporting material.
Journal ArticleDOI

Promising anode candidates for direct ethanol fuel cell: Carbon supported PtSn-based trimetallic catalysts prepared by Bönnemann method

TL;DR: In this paper, several trimetallic PtM/C and bimetallic PtX/C anode catalysts were synthesized by Bonnemann's colloidal precursor method and evaluated by comparing their electrocatalytic activity using conventional electrochemical techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pronounced synergetic effect of the nano-sized PtSnNi/C catalyst for ethanol oxidation in direct ethanol fuel cell

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of Ni in the Pt80Sn10Ni10/C catalyst can facilitate C C bond cleavage reaction on its Pt-rich surface; however, Sn oxide species activates the adsorbed CO on the surface providing the necessary OH species for oxidation of ethanol at lower potentials.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of oxygen reduction reaction on Pt/C, Pt-Sn/C, Pt-Ni/C, and Pt-Sn-Ni/C catalysts prepared by Bönnemann method: A rotating ring disk electrode study

TL;DR: In this article, the kinetics of oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) on carbon supported Pt, Pt-Sn, Pt -Ni, and Pt-sn-Ni catalysts, prepared by Bonnemann method, were investigated by using rotating ring disk electrode (RRDE) measurements in 0.1 M HClO4 solution.
