Journal ArticleDOI
Twice-daily compared with once-daily thoracic radiotherapy in limited small-cell lung cancer treated concurrently with cisplatin and etoposide
Andrew T. Turrisi,KyungMann Kim,Ronald Blum,William T. Sause,Robert B. Livingston,Ritsuko Komaki,Henry N. Wagner,Seena C. Aisner,David H. Johnson +8 more
TL;DR: Four cycles of cisplatin plus etoposide and a course of radiotherapy beginning with cycle 1 of the chemotherapy resulted in overall two- and five-year survival rates of 44 percent and 23 percent, a considerable improvement in survival rates over previous results.
Journal ArticleDOI
Autophagy suppresses progression of K-ras-induced lung tumors to oncocytomas and maintains lipid homeostasis
Jessie Yanxiang Guo,Gizem Karsli-Uzunbas,Robin Mathew,Seena C. Aisner,Jurre J. Kamphorst,Anne M. Strohecker,Guanghua Chen,Sandy M. Price,Wenyun Lu,Xin Teng,Eric L. Snyder,Eric L. Snyder,Urmila Santanam,Robert S. DiPaola,Tyler Jacks,Joshua D. Rabinowitz,Eileen White,Eileen White +17 more
TL;DR: Autophagy is required for carcinoma fate, and autophagy defects may be a molecular basis for the occurrence of oncocytomas, as cancers require autophile for distinct roles in metabolism that are oncogene- and tumor suppressor gene-specific.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cisplatin plus doxorubicin plus cyclophosphamide in metastatic or recurrent thymoma: final results of an intergroup trial. The Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group, Southwest Oncology Group, and Southeastern Cancer Study Group.
Patrick J. Loehrer,KyungMann Kim,Seena C. Aisner,Robert B. Livingston,Lawrence H. Einhorn,David H. Johnson,Ronald H. Blum +6 more
TL;DR: This trial demonstrates that objective response rates and prolonged survival can be achieved in patients with advanced thymoma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Histopathologic classification of small cell lung cancer. Changing concepts and terminology.
Fred R. Hirsch,Mary J. Matthews,Seena C. Aisner,O. Campobasso,J. D. Elema,Adi F. Gazdar,Bruce Mackay,M. Nasiell,Yukio Shimosato,R. H. Steele,Raymond Yesner,L. Zettergren +11 more
TL;DR: This simplified classification of SCLC will facilitate uniformity in the diagnosis and further the understanding of the clinical significance of the rarer SclC with variant morphologies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phase II Study of Carboplatin and Paclitaxel in Advanced Thymoma and Thymic Carcinoma
G. L. Lemma,Ju Whei Lee,Seena C. Aisner,Corey J. Langer,William Tester,David H. Johnson,Patrick J. Loehrer +6 more
TL;DR: Carboplatin plus paclitaxel has moderate clinical activity for patients with thymic malignancies, but this seems less than expected with anthracycline-based therapy.
