Successive cyclohexylidenation of the tetrol obtained from 4, selective benzoylation, and conventional tosylation gave the homoallyl tosylate 11, which would be a versatile intermediate for preparation of biologically active 5a−carbahexopyranosylamines and their unsaturated congeners.
