A catalog of white light coronal mass ejections observed by the SOHO spacecraft
Seiji Yashiro,Seiji Yashiro,Nat Gopalswamy,G. Michalek,G. Michalek,G. Michalek,O. C. St. Cyr,O. C. St. Cyr,Simon Plunkett,N. Rich,Russell A. Howard +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a summary of the statistical properties of the CMEs, including the apparent central position angle, the angular width in the sky plane, and the height (heliocentric distance) as a function of time.
Journal ArticleDOI
The SOHO/LASCO CME Catalog
Nat Gopalswamy,Seiji Yashiro,G. Michalek,Guillermo Stenborg,Angelos Vourlidas,S. Freeland,R. A. Howard +6 more
TL;DR: The SOHO/LASCO CME catalog as mentioned in this paper is a data base for the analysis of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) in the solar corona.
Journal ArticleDOI
Solar and interplanetary sources of major geomagnetic storms (Dst ≤ −100 nT) during 1996–2005
Jie Zhang,Ian G. Richardson,Ian G. Richardson,David F. Webb,Nat Gopalswamy,E. Huttunen,Justin C. Kasper,Nariaki Nitta,W. Poomvises,Barbara J. Thompson,C.-C. Wu,C.-C. Wu,Seiji Yashiro,Seiji Yashiro,Andrei Zhukov,Andrei Zhukov +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented the results of an investigation of the sequence of events from the Sun to the Earth that ultimately led to the 88 major geomagnetic storms (defined by minimum Dst 100 nT) that occurred during 1996-2005.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predicting the 1‐AU arrival times of coronal mass ejections
TL;DR: In this paper, an empirical model to predict the 1-AU arrival of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) is described, which is based on an effective interplanetary acceleration described by Gopalswamy et al. [2000b] that the CMEs are subject to, as they propagate from the Sun to 1 AU.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prominence Eruptions and Coronal Mass Ejection: A Statistical Study Using Microwave Observations
Nat Gopalswamy,Masumi Shimojo,W. Lu,W. Lu,Seiji Yashiro,Seiji Yashiro,Kiyoto Shibasaki,Russell A. Howard +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a statistical study of a large number of solar prominence events (PEs) observed by the Nobeyama Radioheliograph is presented, and the association rate, relative timing, and spatial correspondence between PEs and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) is investigated.
