Journal ArticleDOI

Glucagon-Like Peptide 1 Inhibits Cell Apoptosis and Improves Glucose Responsiveness of Freshly Isolated Human Islets

TL;DR: Evidence is provided that GLP-1 added to freshly isolated human islets preserves morphology and function and inhibits cell apoptosis, and better-preserved three-dimensional islet morphology in the GLp-1-treated islets, compared with controls.
Journal ArticleDOI

Murine pituitary tumor-transforming gene functions as a securin protein in insulin-secreting cells.

TL;DR: Results show that mPT TG exhibits properties consistent with a murine securin in insulin-secreting mouse cells and mPTTG overexpression inhibits cell proliferation, suggesting that defective beta-cell proliferation observed in PTTG-/- mice is likely due to abnormal cell-cycle progression.
