Increasing the Power Production of Vertical-Axis Wind-Turbine Farms Using Synergistic Clustering

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used an actuator line model in a large-eddy simulation to test novel VAWT farm configurations that exploit these synergistic interactions, and the simulations confirm that vertical-axis wind turbines have a positive influence on each other when packed in well-designed clusters: such configurations increase the power generation of a single turbine by about 10 percent.
Journal ArticleDOI

Simulation and wake analysis of a single vertical axis wind turbine

TL;DR: In this paper, an actuator line model is implemented in an atmospheric boundary layer large eddy simulation code, with offline coupling to a high-resolution blade-scale unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes model.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mean kinetic energy replenishment mechanisms in vertical-axis wind turbine farms

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyze the kinetic energy (KE) transport allowing wind speed recovery behind a row of wind turbines, showing that KE replenishment is significant after about the 6th row.

Large Eddy Simulation of Vertical Axis Wind Turbines

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a list of figures and tables from the first chapter one of the book, "Acknowledgements and acknowledgements: Chapter One" and their acknowledgements.
