Exact characteristic equations for some of classical boundary conditions of vibrating moderately thick rectangular plates

TL;DR: In this article, the exact closed form characteristic equations are given within the validity of the Mindlin plate theory for plates having two opposite sides simply supported, and the effect of boundary conditions, aspect ratios and thickness ratios on the eigenfrequency parameters and vibratory behavior of each distinct cases are studied in detail.
Journal ArticleDOI

Buckling analysis of micro/nanoscale plates via nonlocal elasticity theory

TL;DR: In this paper, an analytical solution for the buckling analysis of rectangular nanoplates is proposed, where the analysis procedure is based on the nonlocal Mindlin plate theory considering the small scale effects.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dynamic response of multiple nanobeam system under a moving nanoparticle

TL;DR: In this paper, a nonlocal continuum based model of multiple nanobeam system (MNBS) under a moving nanoparticle is investigated using Eringen's nonlocal theory, where beam layers are coupled by Winkler elastic medium and the nonlocal Euler-Bernoulli beam theory is used to model each layer of beam.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nonlocal surface energy effect on free vibration behavior of nanoplates submerged in incompressible fluid

TL;DR: In this article, the free vibration characteristics of a nanoplate sinking in an incompressible fluid, so that the plate is in touch with the fluid from its upper surface, were investigated, and the nonlocal continuum theory together with Gurtin-Murdoch elasticity theory were employed to examine the influence of size-dependency and surface energy effect, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vibration analysis of a Timoshenko non-uniform nanobeam based on nonlocal theory: An analytical solution

TL;DR: In this paper, free vibration of a Timoshenko nanobeam with variable cross-section is investigated using nonlocal elasticity theory within the scope of continuum mechanics, and it is shown that section variation accompanying small scale effects has a noticeable effect on natural frequencies of non-uniform Timoshenko beams at nano-scale.
