A hybrid MILP and IPM approach for dynamic economic dispatch with valve-point effects

TL;DR: In this article, a hybrid approach combining mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) and the interior point method (IPM), abbreviated as MILP-IPM, is proposed to solve a DED-VPE problem in which complicated transmission loss is also included.
Journal ArticleDOI

A full mixed-integer linear programming formulation for economic dispatch with valve-point effects, transmission loss and prohibited operating zones

TL;DR: The case study results show that the presented FMILP formulation is very effective in solving the ED problem that involves nonconvex, nonsmooth and noncontinuous features, and a nearly global solution is obtained.
Journal ArticleDOI

Solution for short-term hydrothermal scheduling with a logarithmic size mixed-integer linear programming formulation

TL;DR: Numerical results show that the presented logarithmic size mixed-integer linear programming formulation is more efficient than the generalized one and when it is incorporated into the solution procedure, the proposed methodology is competitive with currently state-of-the-art approaches.

A Mixed Integer Linear Programming Method for Dynamic Economic Dispatch with Valve Point Effect

TL;DR: In this paper, a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) formulation is proposed to solve the dynamic economic dispatch with valve-point effect (DED-VPE), based on piecewise linearization technique, the non-convex and non-smooth generation cost is reformulated into a linear lower approximation which is better than the quadratic one.

Solution to dynamic economic dispatch with prohibited operating zones via MILP

TL;DR: A mixed integer linear programming (MILP) method is proposed to solve a dynamic economic dispatch problem considering prohibited operating zones, ramp rate constraints, transmission losses and spinning reserve constraints and the results show that both of them can solve to competitive solutions in a short time.
