Although there are attempts to perform Helicobacter pylori diagnosis directly in vivo using magnification endoscopy, most articles on diagnosis this year concerned non-invasive tests and molecular methods. For urea breath tests, there are attempts to have a quicker and cheaper test and to evaluate its role in cases of premalignant lesions. For stool antigens tests, evaluation of kits using monoclonal antibodies was carried out. Molecular tests have been applied for typing and detection of resistant mutants.

Diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori

Objective To perform a comprehensive review of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in dentistry, providing the community with a broad insight on the different advances that these technologies and tools have produced, paying special attention to the area of esthetic dentistry and color research. Materials and methods The comprehensive review was conducted in MEDLINE/PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus databases, for papers published in English language in the last 20 years. Results Out of 3871 eligible papers, 120 were included for final appraisal. Study methodologies included deep learning (DL; n = 76), fuzzy logic (FL; n = 12), and other ML techniques (n = 32), which were mainly applied to disease identification, image segmentation, image correction, and biomimetic color analysis and modeling. Conclusions The insight provided by the present work has reported outstanding results in the design of high-performance decision support systems for the aforementioned areas. The future of digital dentistry goes through the design of integrated approaches providing personalized treatments to patients. In addition, esthetic dentistry can benefit from those advances by developing models allowing a complete characterization of tooth color, enhancing the accuracy of dental restorations. Clinical significance The use of AI and ML has an increasing impact on the dental profession and is complementing the development of digital technologies and tools, with a wide application in treatment planning and esthetic dentistry procedures.

Applications of artificial intelligence in dentistry: A comprehensive review

OBJECTIVES The objective of the study was to ascertain the appropriateness of indications for upper gastrointestinal (UGI) endoscopy in children with dyspepsia. METHODS We used the RAND/University of California at Los Angeles method to investigate the appropriateness of the opinions of a panel of experts. The panel judged 2304 theoretical patient scenarios defined by a combination of demographic and clinical variables. Descriptive and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed. RESULTS The panel rated UGI endoscopy as appropriate in 27.2% of cases, inappropriate in 14.3%, and dubious in 58.5%. Disagreement emerged for 21% of cases. UGI endoscopy was considered increasingly appropriate in cases with a positive family history of peptic ulcer and/or Helicobacter pylori infection (odds ratio [OR] 8.518, P < 0.0001), when dyspepsia interfered with activities of daily living ("sleep" OR 7.540, P < 0.0001; "normal activities" OR 5.725, P < 0.0001), and when patients were older than 10 years ("<or=10 years" OR 0.310, P < 0.0001) the longer the duration ("0-2 months" OR 0.002, P < 0.0001; "3-5 months" OR 0.059, P < 0.0001; "6-11 months" OR 0.516, P = 0.0005) and the greater the severity ("mild" OR 0.002, P < 0.0001; "moderate" OR 0.013, P < 0.0001) of their dyspeptic symptoms. CONCLUSIONS UGI endoscopy is not appropriate for all children with dyspeptic symptoms, but only for cases with a family history of peptic ulcer and/or Helicobacter pylori infection, older than 10 years of age, with symptoms persisting for more than 6 months and severe enough to affect activities of daily living.

With the continuous development of wireless communication technology and vehicle industry VANET as of recent is one of the most research niches. VANET is a technology that makes use of motion vehicles as a node in a network for the creation of a mobile network. Although there is a close characteristic between VANET and MANET (Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks), VANET has special features that differentiate it from MANET. VANET offers a vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure communication. VANET also make sure there is no break of routing path before the transmission end. VANET is a challenging domain that has created a platform for many applications to find their place. Enough time is still needed for the implementation of large-scale practical though this field has been under rigorous study for over two decades. The possibility of having vehicular connectivity has been triggered by the ever-increasing wireless connectivity and computational ability of recent vehicles. Many potential vehicular network applications have been proposed in different niches like information, safety, entertainment and traffic infrastructure management. These applications in these aforementioned applications require available wireless medium utilization of both new and existing wireless technologies. VANET comprises of two technologies known as WiMAX and Wi-Fi. The goal of this survey was to ascertain the best technology among the two technologies. In other to achieve this goal, a thorough investigation was carried out together with an evaluation on V2V2I VANET where Wi-Fi was used for amid vehicle (V2V) interaction and WiMAX used for vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) interaction. This survey begins with the VANET architecture, then discusses the characteristics and challenges of VANET, applications, before ending with a comparison of the two technologies that made of VANET, the experimental approach used, future perspectives, result and conclusion.

A survey on the use of WiMAX and Wi-Fi on Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks (VANETs)

Algorithmic analysis for dental caries detection using an adaptive neural network architecture.

One-dimensional hollow hexagonal ZnO rods (1-D HHZRs) were grown onto the SnO2: F (FTO) coated glass substrates by using two-step deposition techniques. Initially, the ZnO seed layer was coated onto the FTO which was followed by hydrothermal route in order to grow 1-D HHZRs. These 1-D HHZRs were decorated with Eosin-Y dye and CdS semiconductor nanoparticles (NPs) by using a chemical routes like dip coating and successive ionic layer absorption reaction (SILAR) technique, respectively to improve its photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance. The structural, morphological, optical and electrochemical characterizations of the thin films were analyzed by various sophisticated instruments. X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern corroborated the phase formation of ZnO and CdS with the hexagonal and cubic crystal structure, respectively. 1-D HHZRs films were obtained by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with rod diameter of about 1.47 μm. Furthermore, SEM image clearly showed the CdS NPs covered 1-D HHZRs. The direct optical bandgap energy of the samples were estimated to be 3.28, 3.24 and 3.03 eV. CdS NPs-sensitized 1-D HHZRs samples showed hydrophilic nature for water contact angle, which is advantageous for the better improvement in the PEC performance as compared with pristine and dye-sensitized 1-D HHZRs.

Photoelectrochemical performance of dye and semiconductor sensitization on 1-D hollow hexagonal ZnO rods: A comparative study

BACKGROUND agA IgG antibody in sera may indicate presence of peptic ulcer disease among dyspeptic patients and therefore may be used as a serological marker to identify high risk patients for peptic ulcer who can be subjected to endoscopy. Present study was performed to identify association of CagA IgG antibody in patients with peptic ulcer. METHODS Consecutive patients with dyspepsia were subjected to endoscopy and sera was collected from each. Rapid urease test in antral tissue collected from each patient by endoscopic biopsy was performed. Antral tissue was also examined histologically. IgG Antibody against H. Pylori and CagA IgG antibody was tested in each patients sera. RESULTS Out of 82 patients with dyspepsia included in the study 28 had peptic ulcer. Of whom 26 were positive for anti IgG H. Pylori antibody. More than 80% patients with peptic ulcer patients had detectable anti Cag A antibody in contrast to 33% patients with non ulcer dyspepsia (P < 0.001). CONCLUSION Anti-Cag A antibody may be used as a screening test in patients with dyspepsia to select high risk patients for peptic ulcer for upper gastrointestinal endoscopy.

Evaluates about the routing protocols used in VANETs and network simulators such as ns-2 and ns-3. At last, it gives the information about the efficiency in the Quality of Service section.
