Finite-time consensus for second-order multi-agent systems with disturbances by integral sliding mode

This paper develops a droop-based distributed cooperative control scheme for microgrids under a switching communication network with non-uniform time-varying delays. We first design a pinning-based frequency/voltage controller containing a distributed voltage observer and then design a consensus-based active/reactive power controller, which are employed into the secondary control stage to generate the nominal set points used in the primary control stage for different distributed generators (DGs). By this approach, the frequencies and the weighted average value of all DGs’ voltages can be pinned to the desired values while maintaining the precise active and reactive power sharing. With the proposed scheme, each DG only needs to communicate with its neighbors intermittently, even if their communication networks are local and time-varying, and their variant delays may be non-uniform. Sufficient conditions on the requirements for the network connectivity and the delay upper bound that guarantee the stability and reliability of the microgrid are presented. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is verified by the simulation of a microgrid test system.

Droop-Based Distributed Cooperative Control for Microgrids With Time-Varying Delays

This paper considers the problem of finite-time synchronization for a class of second-order nonlinear multi-agent systems with a leader-follower architecture. By using the finite-time control technique and homogenous systems theory, a finite-time state feedback controller is first proposed. Then to address the lack of velocity measurement, a finite-time convergent observer is constructed to estimate the unknown velocity information in a finite time. Finally, an observer-based finite-time output feedback controller is developed. Rigorous proof shows that the systems output can reach synchronization in a finite time and the final consensus states are the leader's states. In addition, for some special second-order multi-agent systems, a bounded finite-time output feedback controller can also be designed.

Finite-Time Synchronization of a Class of Second-Order Nonlinear Multi-Agent Systems Using Output Feedback Control

This paper develops a new distributed secondary cooperative control scheme to coordinate distributed generators (DGs) in islanded microgrids (MGs). A finite time frequency regulation strategy containing a consensus-based distributed active power regulator is presented, which can not only guarantee the active power sharing but also enable all DGs’ frequencies to converge to the reference value within a finite time. This enables the frequency and voltage control designs to be separated. Then an observer-based distributed voltage regulator involving certain reactive power sharing constraints is proposed, which allows different set points for different DGs and, thus, accounts for the line impedance effects. The steady-state performance analysis shows that the voltage regulator can accurately address the issue of global voltage regulation and accurate reactive power sharing. Moreover, all the distributed controllers are equipped with bounded control inputs to suppress the transient overshoot, and they are implemented through sparse communication networks. The effectiveness of the control in case of load variation, plug-and-play capability, communication topology change, link failure, time delays, and data drop-out are verified by the simulation of an islanded MG in MATLAB/SimPowerSystems.

A Novel Distributed Secondary Coordination Control Approach for Islanded Microgrids

This paper deals with the problem of robust adaptive synchronization of dynamical networks with stochastic coupling by means of evolutionary algorithms. The complex networks under consideration are subject to: 1) the coupling term in a stochastic way is considered; 2) uncertainties exist in the node's dynamics; and 3) pinning distributed synchronization is also considered. By resorting to Lyapunov function methods and stochastic analysis techniques, the tasks to get the distributed robust synchronization and distributed robust pinning synchronization of dynamical networks are solved in terms of a set of inequalities, respectively. The impacts of degree information, stochastic coupling, and uncertainties on synchronization performance, i.e., mean control gain and convergence rate, are derived theoretically. The potential conservativeness for the distributed robust pinning synchronization problem is solved by means of an evolutionary algorithm-based optimization method, which includes a constraint optimization evolutionary algorithm and a convex optimization method and aims at improving the traditional optimization methods. Simulations are provided to illustrate the effectiveness and applicability of the obtained results.

Distributed Robust Synchronization of Dynamical Networks With Stochastic Coupling

This paper aims at further investigating the finite-time distributed tracking control problems for multi-agent systems with a virtual leader under the conditions of fixed and switching topologies, respectively. Two continuous distributed tracking protocols are designed for tracking the virtual leader in finite time. Compared with the traditional distributed tracking protocols, the proposed distributed tracking protocols can reach consensus in finite time. In particular, to eliminate the chattering phenomenon occurred in non-Lipschitz dynamical systems, this paper introduces a saturation function to replace the original sign function in the proposed distributed tracking protocols. The improved protocols can guide all agents to track the virtual leader without chattering phenomenon in finite time for the same position. Numerical simulations are also given to validate the proposed distributed tracking protocols.
