The Phytoestrogen Genistein Affects Zebrafish Development through Two Different Pathways
Sana Sassi-Messai,Yann Gibert,Laure Bernard,Shin-ichi Nishio,Karine F. Ferri Lagneau,José Molina,Monika Andersson-Lendahl,Gérard Benoit,Patrick Balaguer,Vincent Laudet +9 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that genistein acts through at least two different pathways in zebrafish embryos: (i) it induces apoptosis in an ER-independent manner and (ii) it regulates aromatase-B expression in the brain in anER-dependent manner.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fasting Induces CART Down-Regulation in the Zebrafish Nervous System in a Cannabinoid Receptor 1-Dependent Manner
Shin-ichi Nishio,Yann Gibert,Liubov Berekelya,Laure Bernard,Frédéric Brunet,Etienne Guillot,Jean-Christophe Le Bail,Juan Antonio Sánchez,Anne Marie Galzin,Gérard Triqueneaux,Vincent Laudet +10 more
TL;DR: The zebrafish is established as a promising system to study appetite regulation because it reveals a developmental overlap between CART genes and CB1 expression in the hypothalamus and medulla oblongata, two brain structures that play crucial roles in appetite regulation in mammals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gender-specific regulation of response to thyroid hormone in aging
TL;DR: Findings indicated that there is a gender-specific response to thyroid hormone with aging, and the TSH level is a useful marker for the assessment of peripheral thyroid hormone action, the values should be interpreted carefully, especially with regard to age- and gender-related differences.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adiponectin and adiponectin receptor genes are coexpressed during zebrafish embryogenesis and regulated by food deprivation.
Shin-ichi Nishio,Yann Gibert,Laure Bernard,Frédéric Brunet,Gérard Triqueneaux,Vincent Laudet +5 more
TL;DR: It is observed that adiponectin B expression in adult liver is reduced while the expression of the receptors is increased in fasted fish, indicating that the upstream members of the Adip onectin pathway have complex expression patterns and are regulated by food deprivation in zebrafish.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression of thyroid hormone receptor alpha in 3T3-L1 adipocytes; triiodothyronine increases the expression of lipogenic enzyme and triglyceride accumulation
Wei Jiang,Takahide Miyamoto,Tomoko Kakizawa,Takahiro Sakuma,Shin-ichi Nishio,Teiji Takeda,Satoru Suzuki,Kiyoshi Hashizume +7 more
TL;DR: An RT-PCR and restriction enzyme digestion method is developed that concludes that the TRalpha isoform might play an important role in the generation and maintenance of the mature adipocyte phenotype, regulating the expression of lipogenic enzymes.
