TL;DR: In this paper, a ruthenium-catalyzed carbonylation at a C−H bond in a benzene ring is described, where the reaction of pyridylbenzenes with CO (20 atm) and ethylene in toluene at 160 °C in the presence of a catalytic amount of Ru3(CO)12 results in propionylation at an ortho C −H bond.
Abstract: A ruthenium-catalyzed carbonylation at a C−H bond in a benzene ring is described. The reaction of pyridylbenzenes with CO (20 atm) and ethylene in toluene at 160 °C in the presence of a catalytic amount of Ru3(CO)12 results in propionylation at an ortho C−H bond in the benzene ring. Carbonylation does not occur at the pyridine ring, although this is necessary as a directing group to promote the reaction. Olefins such as trimethylvinylsilane and tert-butylethylene in place of ethylene can also be used in this reaction, however 1-hexene, cyclohexene, allyltrimethylsilane, styrene, methyl methacrylate, vinyl acetate, triethoxyvinylsilane, and isopropenyltrimethylsilane do not afford the coupling products. Transition metal complexes, other than ruthenium carbonyl, examined thus far, do not show catalytic activity. In the reaction of meta-substituted pyridylbenzenes, such as those having Me, OMe, CF3, and COOMe group at the meta position in the benzene ring, carbonylation takes place at the less hindered C−H b...

Abstract: Catalyst-specific C-H/olefin as well as C-H/acetylene coupling has been accomplished for aromatics which contain both keto and imino substituents by simply changing the catalyst. By using Ru(H)2(CO...

TL;DR: In this paper, a composite metal hydroxide, which contains at least one of iron ions and calcium ions, and at most one of nitrogen ions and sulfur ions, has a lamellar structure.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently recover phosphorus which is contained in wastewater such as sewerage or the like in large quantity and of which the exhaustion as resources is indicated and to reutilize phosphorus as resources at low cost. SOLUTION: This water purifying material contains a composite metal hydroxide, which contains at least one of iron ions and calcium ions and at least one of nitrogen ions and sulfur ions and shows a lamellar structure, and at least one of calcium hydroxide and iron hydroxide and is characterized in that the intensity of a main peak caused by at least one of calcium hydroxide and iron hydroxide measured by the analysis of an X-ray crystal structure is 1/2 or below one caused by the lamellar structure of the composite metal hydroxide.
