Selective photocatalytic oxidation of benzyl alcohol and its derivatives into corresponding aldehydes by molecular oxygen on titanium dioxide under visible light irradiation

TL;DR: In this paper, the photocatalytic oxidation of benzyl alcohol and its derivatives, such as 4-methoxybenzyl alcohol, 4-chlorobenzyl alcohol (CB), 4-nitrobenzinzyl al alcohol (NB), 4-(trifluoromethyl) benzyl (TRB) alcohol, and 4-tertiary-butyl-benzymethyl alcohol (TBBA), into corresponding aldehydes was investigated under both UV and visible light irradiation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Efficient and selective oxidation of benzylic alcohol by O2 into corresponding aldehydes on a TiO2 photocatalyst under visible light irradiation: Effect of phenyl-ring substitution on the photocatalytic activity

TL;DR: In this paper, the photocatalytic activity for the formation of the aldehyde was evaluated by a pseudo-first-order reaction, and it was found that the activity is enhanced by phenyl-ring substitution with the electron-releasing groups (OCH3, CH3, C(CH3)3), electron-withdrawing groups (Cl, CF3 and NO2), leading to further reactions to form corresponding aldehydes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Photoelectrochemical properties of hybrid WO3/TiO2 electrode. Effect of structures of WO3 on charge separation behavior

TL;DR: In this paper, morphology, structure, fundamental absorption edge and photocurrent response of hybrid WO3/TiO2 films were investigated, and it was found that the band gap excitation of WO 3/Ti 2 caused effective charge separation to generate high anodic photocurrent by the oxidation of oxalic acid.
Journal ArticleDOI

Titanium-Dioxide-Based Visible-Light-Sensitive Photocatalysis: Mechanistic Insight and Applications

Shinya Higashimoto
- 01 Feb 2019 -
TL;DR: In this article, the authors review recent advances of TiO2-based visible-light-sensitive photocatalysts, classified by the origins of charge separation photo-induced in (1) bulk impurity (N-doping), (2) hetero-junction of metal (Au NPs), and (3) interfacial surface complexes (ISC) and their related photocATalysts.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Surface Treatment on the Selective Photocatalytic Oxidation of Benzyl Alcohol into Benzaldehyde by O2 on TiO2 Under Visible Light

TL;DR: The photocatalytic oxidation of benzyl alcohol into benzaldehyde proceeded with high conversion and selectivity on a TiO2 photocatalyst by O2 under visible light irradiation as mentioned in this paper.
