Adversity quotients, environmental variables and career adaptability in student nurses

This study aimed to examine the influence of Adversity Quotient (AQ) on the academic achievement among Malaysian polytechnic students. A total of 1,845 students from five polytechnics in Malaysia participated in this study and these polytechnic was selected from five different zones, namely Nouthern, Southern, Eastern, Western and Borneo. The samples for the study was selected using the proportionate clustered multistage stratified sampling technique. Data collected for this study was analyzed using regression analysis and the results showed that the findings of the analysis showed that AQ contributed only 0.9% (r = .098) changes in the variance of academic achievement score. AQ still has the potential to be studied from the other perspective of the success factor in the polytechnic students as a whole.

The Influence of AQ on the Academic Achievement among Malaysian

One of the purposes of vocational school (SMK) is as an education facility to prepare alumni who are ready to enter work field, but in contrary the highest number of unemployed in West Sumatra is dominated by SMK alumni. This research aims to describe the contribution of adversity quotient, self awareness and demographic factors to student career maturity. The study was conducted using quantitative descriptive methods. The research population w ere students of class XII at SMKN6 Padang as many as 392 students and a sample of research were 198 students. The technique used in this research was purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was a adversity quotient, self awareness and career maturity scale was using Likert model, and the research data w as analyzed using simple regression and multiple regression with dummy variables. The research findings prove that: (1) adversity quotient has an effective contribution of 23% to student career maturity, (2) self awareness contributing as much as 37.9% to career maturity, (3) gender does not contribute to career maturity, (4) socioeconomic status contribut es 4.9% to student career maturity, and (6) there were 47.8% of contributions together with adversity quotient, self awareness, gender and socioeconomic status on students' career maturity . This result show that student’s career maturity was not influenced by one variable only but adversity quotient, self awareness and demographic factor all together contribute in forming student’s career maturity. Therefore, increase in career maturity as an attempt to prepare students prior to entering work field could be done by optimizing adversity quotient level and self awareness while also considering demographic factor of each students.

Contribution of Adversity Quotient, Self Awareness and Demographic Factors to Student Career Maturity

This study is experimental research that aims to know and examine in depth about the influence of AQ of pre-service mathematics teacher toward the achievement of mathematical creative reasoning ability. The population of this study is the pre-service mathematics teacher in Cimahi City, West Java, Indonesia; while the sample is 60 pre-service mathematics teachers selected purposively. The instruments of this study are tests and non-tests. They are based on the assessment of good characteristics towards students' mathematical creative reasoning abilities, while the non-test instrument is based on the assessment of good characteristics towards AQ. The results of this research show that: (1) AQ gives positive influence to the development of mathematical creative reasoning ability of pre-service mathematics teacher with the influence of 60.9%, while the rest of it (39.1%) is influenced by other factors outside AQ; (2) The mathematical creative reasoning ability of the prospective teacher students is more develop in AQ Climber type, whereas students who have Camper and Quitter AQ types still tend to have thinking patterns in solving problems with imitative reasoning; (3) Students belonging to the Quitter AQ type still tend to have errors related to the idea of solving problems and mathematical expressions.

This study is experimental research that aims to know about the influence Adversity Quotient (AQ) of the achievement studentsâ€™ mathematical critical thinking ability. The population of this study is the students of Junior High School in Cimahi City, West Java, Indonesia; while the sample is 79 students selected purposively. The instruments of this study are tests and non-tests. They are based on the assessment of good characteristics towards students' mathematical critical thinking abilities, while the non-test instrument is based on the assessment of good characteristics towards AQ. The results show that: (1) AQ gives positive influence to the achievement studentsâ€™ mathematical critical thinking ability with the influence of 61%, while the rest of it (39%) is influenced by other factors outside AQ; (2) there are differences in achievement in the studentsâ€™ mathematical critical thinking ability based on AQ level (climber, camper, quitter).
