Journal ArticleDOI

The reaction of acetylcholine and other carboxylic acid derivatives with hydroxylamine, and its analytical application.

TL;DR: The present method, which is designed for use with short chain 0-acyl derivatives, is based on the finding that hydroxylamine at an alkaline pH in water rapidly converts acetylcholine stoichiometrically to hydroxamic acid throughout a wide range of ester concentration.
Journal ArticleDOI

Acylation reactions mediated by purified acetylcholine esterase II

TL;DR: The hydrolysis of acetyl- and propionylcholine by the esterase have been shown to be reversible and the reaction of hydroxamic acid formation, unlike ester hydrolsis by the enzyme, appears to be irreversible.
