TL;DR: In this article, the thermal characteristics of packed bed containing spherical capsules, used in a latent heat thermal storage system with a solar heating collector, were analyzed and discussed, and the latent efficiency, defined as the ratio between the instantaneous released latent heat and the maximum released heat, was introduced to indicate the thermal performances of the system.

TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental investigation on operation characteristics of a cool storage air-conditioning system with spherical capsules packed bed was performed, and the experimental results indicated that the system with the spherical capsule packed bed has better performances and can stably work during charging and discharging period.

TL;DR: In this paper, the thermal performance of latent cool thermal energy storage system using packed bed containing spherical capsules filled with phase change material during charging and discharging process is studied. But the authors did not consider the effects of the inlet temperature and flow rate of HTF, porosity of packed bed and diameter of capsules on the melting time, solidification time, cool stored and released rate during charging/discharging process.
