Lanthanide trifluoromethanesulfonates as reusable catalysts: catalytic Friedel-Crafts acylation

TL;DR: The Friedel-Crafts acylation of substituted benzenes proceeds smoothly by using a catalytic amount of a lanthanide trifluoromethanesulfonate [Ln(OTf)3], which is easily recovered from the reaction mixture and reused without a decrease in catalytic activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Friedel-Crafts Reactions Catalyzed by Rare Earth Metal Trifluoromethanesulfonates

TL;DR: In this paper, rare earth metal trifluoromethanesulfonates (RE(OTf)3) were found to be efficient catalysts for Friedel-Crafts acylation and alkylation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ln(OTf)3–LiClO4 as reusable catalyst system for Friedel–Crafts acylation

TL;DR: Lithium perchlorate is found to accelerate Ln(OTf)3-catalysed Friedel-Crafts acylation; the catalytic system can be easily recovered from the reaction mixture by simple extraction and can be reused without decrease in its catalytic activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

A new method for the synthesis of α-arylalkanoic acids by the use of 1,2-rearrangement of the aryl group☆

TL;DR: In this article, a simple synthetic method of α-arylalkanoic acids was accomplished by the use of a novel 1,2-rearrangement of the aryl group and this method was applied to the syntheses of some biologically important substances.
