Late Permian–Middle Jurassic lithospheric thinning in Peru and Bolivia, and its bearing on Andean-age tectonics
Thierry Sempere,Gabriel Carlier,Pierre Soler,Michel Fornari,Víctor Carlotto,Javier Jacay,Oscar Arispe,Didier Néraudeau,José Cárdenas,Silvia Rosas,N. Jimenez +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, integrated studies and revisions of sedimentary basins and associated magmatism in Peru and Bolivia (8-22°S) show that this part of western Gondwana underwent rifting during the Late Permian-Middle Jurassic interval.

Estiramiento litosférico del paleozoico superior al cretâceo medio en el perd y bolivia
Thierry Sempere,Javier Jacay,Adân Pino,Hervé Bertrand,Michel Fornari Cl,Raul Garcia,A. Marzoli,Silvia Rosas,Pierre Soler +8 more
TL;DR: In the Andes of Pero and Bolivia (8°S-22°S), the southernmost Peruvian margin underwent pronounced stretching starting in the Carboniferous; the sedimentary and magmatie records in the Tacna region suggest that a marginal-type basin was formed, where considerable volumes of basie volcanic rocks were erupted during the Pennsylvanian-Triassie interval as discussed by the authors.
