The Colli Albani mafic caldera (Roma, Italy): Stratigraphy, structure and petrology

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented a survey for the Colli Albani volcano (Roma, Italy) surveyed for the Geological Map of Italy at 1:50,000 scale (CARG Project), integrated with previous data, provide insights on caldera evolution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clinopyroxene–liquid thermometers and barometers specific to alkaline differentiated magmas

TL;DR: In this article, a new thermometer and barometer based on clinopyroxene-liquid equilibria specific to alkaline differentiated magmas were calibrated through regression analyses of experimental datasets obtained by merging phase equilibrium experiments from the literature with new experiments performed by using trachytic and phonolitic starting compositions.
Journal ArticleDOI

A new test for equilibrium based on clinopyroxene-melt pairs: Clues on the solidification temperatures of Etnean alkaline melts at post-eruptive conditions

TL;DR: In this article, a global regression analysis was performed to calibrate a model of equilibrium between clinopyroxene and coexisting melt compositions from Mt Etna volcano, where the degree of disequilibrium was determined through the comparison between components "predicted" via regression analyses of cliniciansopyroxenes and liquid pairs in equilibrium conditions, with those "measured" in the analyzed crystals.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dependence of clinopyroxene composition on cooling rate in basaltic magmas: Implications for thermobarometry

TL;DR: In this paper, the compositional variation of clinopyroxene and the partitioning of major elements between the two components are estimated as a function of the cooling rate, and the results are consistent with that observed at the margin of dikes or in the exterior portions of lavas.
Journal ArticleDOI

Magma–carbonate interaction: An experimental study on ultrapotassic rocks from Alban Hills (Central Italy)

TL;DR: In this paper, Albani et al. proposed a project FIRB MIUR (Development of innovative technologies for the environmental protection from natural events) for the development of new technologies.
