Role of macrophyte communities as bioindicators of water quality: Application on the Tiber River basin (Italy)
TL;DR: In this paper, the compatibility curves of phytocoenoses to water chemico-physical gradients show a correlation between the distribution pattern of the vegetation types and the water's chemico physical features, such as different levels of water pollution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aquatic bryophytes as ecological indicators of the water quality status in the Tiber River basin (Italy).
TL;DR: A survey of 18 watercourses of the Tiber River basin was carried out to define the ecological niche breadth of some aquatic bryophyte species in relation to environmental factors as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Colosseum's use and state of abandonment as analysed through its flora
TL;DR: The comparison among the different floras allows a quantitative estimate of the following general changes to be determined: a gradual yet notable decrease of typical elements of mature dynamic stages; a constant decrease in species related to grazing and animal droppings, as well as in weeds from cultivated fields; and a constant increase of widely distributed and alien species, indicators of a different but ever stronger impact of man on the area.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phytoremediation performance of Lemna communities in a constructed wetland system for wastewater treatment
Simona Ceschin,Valentina Sgambato,Neil Thomas William Ellwood,Neil Thomas William Ellwood,Vincenzo Zuccarello +4 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of the whole treatment system was assessed taking into consideration pH, temperature, oxygen, nitrates, phosphates, sulphates, and pathogenic bacteria at the inlet and outlet of each pool once per season over a year.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ecological analysis and biodeterioration processes over time at the Hieroglyphic Stairway in the Copàn (Honduras) archaeological site
TL;DR: The ecological analysis and the changes that seem to have occurred in the biodeterioration of the Copàn Hieroglyphic Stairway provide useful information for planning future conservative interventions.
