Drift Capacity of Rectangular Reinforced Concrete Columns with Low Lateral Confinement and High-Axial Load

TL;DR: In this paper, the experimental results obtained from the testing of nine 1:3 scale square-shaped column specimens were obtained from a test set consisting of nine columns with low-lateral confinement, low-to-moderate shear span and high-axial load.
Journal ArticleDOI

Soil–pile–structure interaction under SH wave excitation

TL;DR: In this paper, a continuum model for the interaction analysis of a fully coupled soil-pile-structure system under seismic excitation is presented, and the acceleration of the piled-structures at ground level can, in general, be larger than that of free-field shaking of the soil site, depending on the excitation frequency.
Book ChapterDOI

Behavior of rectangular columns with low lateral confinement ratio

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the seismic capacity of rectangular reinforced concrete columns having non-seismic detailing and introduced an ultimate drift ratio to quantify the structural strength of columns with low shear span.
