Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative study of antioxidant properties and total phenolic content of 30 plant extracts of industrial interest using DPPH, ABTS, FRAP, SOD, and ORAC assays.

TL;DR: A significant relationship between antioxidant capacity and total phenolic content was found, indicating that phenolic compounds are the major contributors to the antioxidant properties of these plants.
Journal ArticleDOI

Treatment With Camu Camu ( Myrciaria dubia) Prevents Obesity by Altering the Gut Microbiota and Increasing Energy Expenditure in Diet-Induced Obese Mice

TL;DR: Results show that CC prevents visceral and liver fat deposition through BAT activation and increased energy expenditure, a mechanism that is dependent on the GM and linked to major changes in the BA pool size and composition.
Journal ArticleDOI

A polyphenol-rich cranberry extract reverses insulin resistance and hepatic steatosis independently of body weight loss.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that CE, without impacting body weight or adiposity, can fully reverse HFHS diet-induced insulin resistance and hepatic steatosis while triggering A. muciniphila blooming in the gut microbiota, thus underscoring the gut-liver axis as a primary target of cranberry polyphenols.
Journal ArticleDOI

Polyphenols and type 2 diabetes: A prospective review

TL;DR: An overview of the mechanisms implicated in the beneficial metabolic effects ofpolyphenols and the investigation of the metabolomes associated to the ingestion of polyphenol-rich foods will help in the identification of bioactive phenolic metabolites from various fruits and plants.
