A synthetic micro-optic system and security device is disclosed including an in-plane image formed of an array or pattern of image icons and an array of focusing elements, the system producing at least two different synthetic images whereby one synthetic image operates to modulate or control the extent of the appearance of another synthetic image. In an exemplary form, the array of image icons forms an in-plane synthetic image, while the interaction of the array of focusing elements with the array of image icons forms a separate synthetically magnified image that serves to control the field of view of the in-plane image and, thus, serves to modulate or control the extent of appearance of the in-plane image. The appearance of the in-plane image, thus, visually appears and disappears, or turn on and off, depending upon the viewing angle of the system.

Micro-optic security and image presentation system

Systems and methods are described for generating restricted depth of field depth maps. In one embodiment, an image processing pipeline application configures a processor to: determine a desired focal plane distance and a range of distances corresponding to a restricted depth of field for an image rendered from a reference viewpoint; generate a restricted depth of field depth map from the reference viewpoint using the set of images captured from different viewpoints, where depth estimation precision is higher for pixels with depth estimates within the range of distances corresponding to the restricted depth of field and lower for pixels with depth estimates outside of the range of distances corresponding to the restricted depth of field; and render a restricted depth of field image from the reference viewpoint using the set of images captured from different viewpoints and the restricted depth of field depth map.

Systems and Methods for Synthesizing Images from Image Data Captured by an Array Camera Using Restricted Depth of Field Depth Maps in which Depth Estimation Precision Varies

A multiple view display comprises a display device and a plurality of converging lenses, such as a lenticular screen. Each lens cooperates with a respective region of the display device comprising one or more pixels (L) for displaying part of a first image for viewing in a first viewing region (Region 2 windows) and second pixels (R) for displaying part of a second image for viewing in a second region (Region 1 windows). The second pixels (R) are spaced horizontally from the first pixels (L). Each lens comprises first and second portions (Region 1, Region 2) extending vertically and parallel to each other and having lens centres (Lens Centre 1, Lens Centre 2) spaced apart horizontally. Each lens forming first and second images of the respective region of the display device, the first and second images being displaced from one another in the horizontal direction.

Methods and compositions are provided for detecting biomolecular interactions. The use of labels is not required and the methods can be performed in a high-throughput manner. The invention also provides optical devices useful as narrow band filters.

Label-free high-throughput optical technique for detecting biomolecular interactions

Lenses 1, 2, and 4 as an optical element having a power are cemented together in an optical axis direction. An optical filter 3 is sandwiched between the lenses 2 and 4. Optical elements neighboring each other are cemented together such that a positioning section which is disposed on a side surface of the optical element disposes an appropriate space in an optical axis direction and optical axes of optical elements align in a direction orthogonal to the optical axis. The cemented optical element arrays are cemented together and cut at a line for cutting operation. By doing this, it is possible to manufacture a small image pickup lens unit which can be used for an image pickup device in mass-production and in a low cost.

Optical reproduction system

A relief master is formed by assembly of previously molded, machined, or otherwise fabricated relief structures. The relief structures may be quite small and include a relief geometry, i.e., a topology of interest, and a positioning feature. The relief structures are mounted on a rigid (e.g., metal) substrate that includes a plurality of positioning features complementary to the positioning features in the relief structures. The relief master is assembled through selective application and positioning of the small-scale relief structures, and can then be used as a pattern for diverse surface replication processes, including the fabrication of durable metal mold faces for casting, embossing, compression molding, and injection molding of complex patterned surfaces.
