On stress-state dependent plasticity modeling: Significance of the hydrostatic stress, the third invariant of stress deviator and the non-associated flow rule
TL;DR: In this paper, a model for isotropic materials, which is a function of the hydrostatic stress as well as the second and third invariants of the stress deviator, is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of a combined tension–torsion experiment for calibration of ductile fracture models under conditions of low triaxiality
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a failure surface for 5083 aluminum that can be tested in combined tension and torsion to achieve low triaxiality over a range of Lode angle.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modeling the ductile damage process in commercially pure titanium
Jinyuan Zhai,Tuo Luo,Xiaosheng Gao,Stephen M. Graham,Madhav Baral,Yannis P. Korkolis,Erik Knudsen +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, a constitutive model combining the models proposed by Stewart and Cazacu (2011) and Zhou et al. (2014) is presented to describe the ductile damage process in a commercially pure titanium (CP Ti) and to simulate its mechanical response.
Journal ArticleDOI
Application of the plasticity models that involve three stress invariants
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of stress state on plasticity and the general forms of the yield function and flow potential for isotropic materials are assumed to be functions of the first invariant of the stress tensor (I1) and the second and third invariants of the deviatoric stress tensors (J2 and J3).
Journal ArticleDOI
Determining the Slope and Quality of Fit for the Linear Part of a Test Record
TL;DR: A fully automated algorithm is presented, which is independent of operator judgment for data sets that meet specific quality of data and fit criteria, and uses analysis of residuals to simulate the visual process of determining the linear region.
