Method of forming articles including waveguides via capillary micromolding and microtransfer molding

TL;DR: In this paper, a waveguide and cladding can be subject to different polymerization or cross-linking conditions to alter the difference in refractive index between cladding and waveguide at any desired location of the array.
Journal ArticleDOI

Narrow-linewidth stimulated Brillouin fiber laser and applications

TL;DR: A stimulated Brillouin fiber ring laser with a spectral width of 2 kHz and an intrinsic linewidth of less than 30 Hz has been demonstrated, and applications of such a laser include laser linewsidth narrowing, microwave frequency generation, high-rate amplitude modulation, and optical inertial rotation sensing.
Journal ArticleDOI

Guiding Neutral Atoms on a Chip

TL;DR: The guiding of neutral atoms by the magnetic fields due to microfabricated current-carrying wires on a chip is demonstrated and can be extended to integrated atom optics circuits, including beam splitters.
Journal ArticleDOI

Stimulated Brillouin fiber-optic laser gyroscope.

TL;DR: It is achieved simultaneous bidirectional lasing in an all-fiber ring laser, using stimulated Brillouin scattering as the gain medium, and the operation of this device as a ring-laser gyroscope was demonstrated.
