A methanol/dioxygen biofuel cell that uses NAD+-dependent dehydrogenases as catalysts: application of an electro-enzymatic method to regenerate nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide at low overpotentials

TL;DR: Results reflect the low overpotential at which NADH is oxidized and demonstrate a new approach to lowering voltage losses in biofuel cells due to activation overpotentials.
Journal ArticleDOI

A redox fuel cell that operates with methane as fuel at 120°C

TL;DR: A redox fuel cell was assembled that used this reaction in a liquid reformer to generate soluble reducing equivalents of iron(II) from methane, which was electrochemically oxidized to iron(III) in the cell as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Platinum-catalyzed oxidations of organic compounds by ferric sulfate : use of a redox fuel cell to mediate complete oxidation of ethylene glycol by dioxygen at 80°C

TL;DR: In this paper, a redox fuel cell that catalyzes the complete oxidation of ethylene glycol by dioxygen at 80 degrees C was assembled, and a maximum power density of 9.9 mW/cm{sup 3} of graphite felt was obtained at a cell voltage of 197 mV.
