Journal ArticleDOI
Reagent-controlled stereoselective synthesis of lignan-related tetrahydrofurans.
TL;DR: The reaction of ring-closing metathesis-derived cyclic allylsiloxanes 3 with aldehydes in the presence of a Lewis acid gives 2,3,4-trisubstituted tetrahydrofurans related to the furanolignan family of natural products.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dimerization and Isomerization Reactions of α-Lithiated Terminal Aziridines
David M. Hodgson,Philip G. Humphreys,Steven M. Miles,Christopher A. J. Brierley,John G. Ward +4 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the scope of α-lithiated terminal aziridines is detailed, including deprotonation, dimerization, and isomerization reactions depending on the nature of the N-protecting group.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dimerization of Lithiated Terminal Aziridines
David M. Hodgson,Steven M. Miles +1 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis and bio-assay of RCM-derived Bowman–Birk inhibitor analogues
TL;DR: In this article, solid phase microwave-assisted RCM was used to synthesize 2, 3 and 4-carbon analogues of the natural disulfide and found to have Ki values against chymotrypsin in the low to sub-micromolar range.
Journal ArticleDOI
Deprotonation–electrophile trapping of terminal epoxides
David M. Hodgson,Eirene H. M. Kirton,Steven M. Miles,Stephanie Norsikian,Nigel J. Reynolds,Steven J. Coote +5 more
TL;DR: Organolithium-induced deprotonation of terminal epoxides in the presence of appropriate diamine ligands allows trapping with a range of electrophiles, yielding functionalised di- and tri-substituted epoxide in good yields and with control of stereochemistry at the epoxide.
