Patient selection for transcatheter aortic valve replacement: What does the future hold?
TL;DR: The PARTNER trial has shown that TAVR with the SAPIEN valve is superior to medical treatment for patients with AS who are at prohibitive risk for surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR), and it is expected that patient selection for TAVr will shift toward even lower surgical risk patients.
