Journal ArticleDOI

Isolation of a Novel Population of Multipotent Adult Stem Cells from Human Hair Follicles

TL;DR: The data suggest that human embryonic stem cell medium can be used to isolate and expand human adult stem cells, and these cells appear to be located in the bulge area of human hair follicles.
Journal ArticleDOI

Acquired cancer stem cell phenotypes through Oct4-mediated dedifferentiation

TL;DR: It is shown that expression of Oct4 gene or transmembrane delivery ofOct4 protein promoted dedifferentiation of melanoma cells to CSC-like cells, suggesting that CSC phenotype is dynamic and may be acquired through dedifferentiated cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Metal Organic Resin Derived Barium Titanate: I, Formation of Barium Titanium Oxycarbonate Intermediate

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that an intermediate barium titanium oxycarbonate phase forms between 500 and 620C and that BaTiO[sub 3] forms directly by the endothermic decomposition of this phase between 635 and 700C.
Journal ArticleDOI

MicroRNA-9 up-regulates E-cadherin through inhibition of NF-κB1–Snail1 pathway in melanoma

TL;DR: This study finds a new mechanism that miR‐9 utilizes to decrease E‐cadherin expression and inhibit melanoma progression through down‐regulation of the NF‐κB1‐Snail1 pathway.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mutant V600E BRAF Increases Hypoxia Inducible Factor-1α Expression in Melanoma

TL;DR: The data show for the first time that BRAF(V600E) mutation increases Hif-1alpha expression and melanoma cell survival under hypoxic conditions and suggest that effects of the oncogenic V600E BRAF mutation may be partially mediated through the HIF-1 alpha pathway.
