Journal ArticleDOI
Transplantation-Free Survival and Interventions at 3 Years in the Single Ventricle Reconstruction Trial
Jane W. Newburger,Lynn A. Sleeper,Peter C. Frommelt,Gail D. Pearson,William T. Mahle,Shan Chen,Carolyn Dunbar-Masterson,Seema Mital,Ismee A. Williams,Nancy S. Ghanayem,Caren S. Goldberg,Jeffrey P. Jacobs,Catherine D. Krawczeski,Alan B. Lewis,Sara K. Pasquali,Christian Pizarro,Peter J. Gruber,Andrew M. Atz,Svetlana Khaikin,J. William Gaynor,Richard G. Ohye +20 more
TL;DR: By 3 years, the Norwood procedure with RVPAS compared with MBTS was no longer associated with superior transplantation-free survival, andRVPAS subjects had slightly worse right ventricular ejection fraction and underwent more catheter interventions with increasing hazard ratio over time.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of the utility of radiography in acute bronchiolitis.
Suzanne Schuh,Amina Lalani,Upton Allen,David Manson,Paul Babyn,Derek Stephens,Shannon MacPhee,Matthew Mokanski,Svetlana Khaikin,Paul T. Dick +9 more
TL;DR: Infants with typical bronchiolitis do not need imaging because it is almost always consistent with bronchiolaitis, and risk of airspace disease appears particularly low in children with saturation higher than 92% and mild to moderate distress.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of impaired linear growth and worse neurodevelopmental outcome in infants with single ventricle physiology: a report from the pediatric heart network infant single ventricle trial.
Chitra Ravishankar,Victor Zak,Ismee A. Williams,David C. Bellinger,J. William Gaynor,Nancy S. Ghanayem,Catherine D. Krawczeski,Daniel J. Licht,Lynn Mahony,Jane W. Newburger,Victoria L. Pemberton,Richard V. Williams,Renee Sananes,Amanda L. Cook,Teresa Atz,Svetlana Khaikin,Daphne T. Hsu +16 more
TL;DR: In this article, the Bayley Scales of Infant Development II (BSII) was used to identify factors associated with worse outcomes in infants with single ventricle (SV) physiology.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prenatal diagnosis and risk factors for preoperative death in neonates with single right ventricle and systemic outflow obstruction: Screening data from the Pediatric Heart Network Single Ventricle Reconstruction Trial∗
Andrew M. Atz,Thomas G. Travison,Ismee A. Williams,Gail D. Pearson,Peter C. Laussen,William T. Mahle,Amanda L. Cook,Joel A. Kirsh,Mark Sklansky,Svetlana Khaikin,Caren S. Goldberg,Michele A. Frommelt,Catherine D. Krawczeski,Michael D. Puchalski,Jeffrey P. Jacobs,Jeanne M. Baffa,Jack Rychik,Richard G. Ohye +17 more
TL;DR: Assessment of preoperative risk factors before the first-stage Norwood procedure in infants with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and related single-ventricle lesions and practice patterns in prenatal diagnosis found preoperative death was independently associated with preterm birth, obstructed pulmonary venous return, and major extracardiac congenital abnormalities.
Journal ArticleDOI
High-Dose Inhaled Fluticasone Does Not Replace Oral Prednisolone in Children With Mild to Moderate Acute Asthma
Suzanne Schuh,Paul T. Dick,Derek Stephens,Marlene Hartley,Svetlana Khaikin,Lisa Rodrigues,Allan L. Coates +6 more
TL;DR: Airway obstruction in children with mild to moderate acute asthma in the emergency department improves faster on oral than inhaled corticosteroidal treatment, and this difference was no longer significant at 48 hours.
