Hydrostatic pressure effects in misaligned radial face seals with non-newtonian fluids

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used the power-law model of non-newtonian behavior of a lubricant under severe operational requirements to analyze the hydrostatic pressure effects in misaligned radial face seals, and showed that for pseudoplastic fluids the radial force and the tilting moment are less than the values of these parameters for a newtonian fluid.
Journal ArticleDOI

Squeeze effects in misaligned radial face seals with coning

TL;DR: In this paper, the variation in the radial face seal characteristics with coning parameter, tilt parameter, and radius ratio is presented, showing that coning reduces the values of the separating forces and tilting moments but squeezing increases them significantly.
